Yankee Stadiums last All-Star Thriller

Before we get into the All Star game, and the AL winning it for the twelfth straight year. I want to reflect a little on the history of Yankee Stadium. In 1921, the New York Yankees purchased 10 acres of land in the borough of The Bronx for $675,000. With a growing attendance brought on by the awesome slugging of Babe Ruth, the Yankee organization built Yankee Stadium in 1923. On opening day The Bambino, hit the first home run in the stadium in front of a crowd of 74,000 fans. The history of Yankee Stadium and the Yankees have surpassed all the others. By the players like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and Phil Rizzuto, who then passed it on to Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris.
This stadium should have been added to the The National Register of Historic Places a long time ago, which would have protected her from any destruction at a future time. But now we will lose a piece of history, a place in time that fathers took sons and they took their sons for 85 years. As one of the premier ball parks in America its hard to say good-bye to an old friend and to welcome something that carries no history, except the memories of what was.

Now to the All Star game. For the 12th streight year the AL wins the All-Star game in the 15th inning by a walkoff by Michael Young. A history making game of 15 inning and a time of 4-hour, 50-minutes the AL wins it 4-3.
