Rowand cranks out another homer
Bengie Molina and Aaron Rowand hit consecutive home runs to help the Giants win their third consecutive game at Florida Friday. Molina and Rowand gave the Giants back-to-back homers for the first time this season. Rowand drove in threeruns, and Molina and Rich Aurilia each had two RBI to lead the Giants. Rowand is actually posting some pretty good numbers in this lineup -- .325-6-25-20-0 -- and he has hit safely in five ofhis past six games with five RBI in that span.
He's still a solid No. 3 or 4 Fantasy OF. *
Crawford knocks in 29th RBI Carl Crawford snapped a scoreless tie with a fifth-inning single Friday night, helping the Rays beat the Baltimore Orioles 2-0 for their 10th win in 11 home games. Crawford's two-out RBI single made it 1-0. Crawford's average might be a little low (.276) for what we expect from Crawford, but he continues to fill the stat sheet and remains a must-start Fantasy OF. *
Barmes lands on 15-day disabled list The Colorado Rockies placed shortstop Clint Barmes and rightfielder Brad Hawpe on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday and recalled outfielder Seth Smith and infielder Ian Stewartfrom Triple-A Colorado Springs. Barmes sprained his right knee when New York's Jose Reyes slid into him at second baseduring the 10th inning of the Rockies 6-5, 13-inning win Friday night. Barmes left after going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
Barmes leads the Rockies with a .343 average. Since taking over for Troy Tulowitzki, who is out until the All-Star break with a torn left quadriceps, Barmes has hit .400 with three homers and 10 RBI. He has hit safely in 14 of his last15 games. Fantasy owners should reserve him in all leagues that have injury slots or amble reserve space. The loss of Barmes meant the Rockies are down to their third shortstop. Omar Quintanilla was in the lineup for Saturday's game, and Hurdle said that rookie Jonathan Herrera, who was in the lineup Saturday at second, could play some shortstop, too
