News Aaron Rowand Listed day-to-day

Rowand's hip injury sits him again
Updated Jun 8

Rowand, Aaron CF SF
News: Giants OF Aaron Rowand , who left Friday's game against the Nationals in the seventh inning with an injury to his right hip flexor, didn't return Saturday. He is day to day.
Analysis: Rowand has been solid this season, batting .328 with eight homers and 36 RBI. He has been a bright spot on an otherwise dull team. Consider him a solid option among Fantasy outfielders in all leagues on a regular basis, when healthy. He looks like a somewhat risky start for Fantasy Week 11 (June 9-15).

Nady takes a breather on Saturday
Updated Jun 7

Nady, Xavier RF PIT
News: Pirates OF Xavier Nady, batting .231 (3-for-13) over his last four games, got the night off Saturday against the Diamondbacks. He did make a pinch-hit appearance, however, going 0-for-1.
Analysis: Nady has been clubbing the ball well this entire season and exceeding expectations. He's batting .320 with nine home runs after entering the season with career highs of .280 and 20. Keep him active in all Fantasy formats

McLouth sets career high in homers
Updated Jun 7

McLouth, Nate CF PIT
News: Pirates OF Nate McLouth hit a home run into the right-field seats with two outs in the fifth inning Saturday against the Diamondbacks to tie the game at 3. The shot -- his 14th -- set a career high. He finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Analysis: McLouth had fallen into his first mini slump of the season, batting .238 (5-for-21) since the beginning of June. This home run might put him back on a roll again, or he might continue to show signs of coming back down to earth. For now, consider him a must-start in Fantasy.

Snyders hits a game-winning homer

Updated Jun 7

Snyder, Chris C ARI
News: Diamondbacks C Chris Snyder went only 1-for-4 Saturday at Pittsburgh, but his one was a big one. He hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning, giving his team a 4-3 victory. He has two home runs in his last four games and six overall.
Analysis: After a miserable April, Snyder hit a solid .309 in May. He has only one hit in his last 11 at-bats, but he's still a decent catcher with emerging power potential and a viable starter in mixed leagues.

Sanchez racks up third straight
Updated Jun 7

Sanchez, Jonathan O. RP SF
News: San Francisco starter Jonathan O. Sanchez won his third straight start and the Giants beat the Washington Nationals 6-0 on Saturday night. Sanchez (5-3) allowed four singles, walked two and struck out four in seven innings.
Analysis: This marks the fifth consecutive start for Sanchez in which he lasted at least six innings and has given up two earned runs or less in each. He's pitching as well as he has in his career, making it time to give him a look again in mixed leagues. Keep in mind he probably won't win many games for the lowly Giants, but he is still a solid option. His next start comes Thursday at Colorado.

Martin cashes in three, homers
Updated Jun 7

Martin, Russell C LA
News: Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Russell Martin broke out of a mini slump in a big way Saturday against the Cubs. The Dodgers won 7-3 thanks in part to Martin going 3-for-4 with his fifth home run, 3 RBI and even a stolen base. His average now stands at .316.
Analysis: Martin was zero for his last 12 plate appearances before Saturday's breakout and was scuffling since going 4-for-4 back on May 30 against the Mets. Martin broke out in a big way Saturday. Continue to keep him active in all Fantasy formats.

Ellsbury could be back Tuesday
Updated Jun 7

Ellsbury, Jacoby CF BOS
News: Boston Red Sox CF Jacoby Ellsbury, who left Thursday's game with a sprained right wrist, could be back Tuesday, said manager Terry Francona Saturday.
Analysis: Ellsbury was 10-for-27 (.370) with three RBI during a recent six-game hitting streak. His wrist injury looked potentially serious, but the MRI results say otherwise. Ellsbury has dominated in stolen bases so far and is a good enough hitter to start in all Fantasy leagues when healthy. The fact that he is expected back for Tuesday's game, Boston's first of Fantasy week 11 (June 9-15) is good news for Fantasy owners who can keep him active without worry.

Rodriguez hits moon shot
Updated Jun 7

Rodriguez, Alex 3B NYY
News: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez - as if he needs an introduction - went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and raised his average to .304 on the season during New York's 12-11 win over Kansas City Saturday. Rodriguez blasted a moon shot that slammed off the top of the wall behind the Royals bullpen.
Analysis: A-Rod has now hit in seven of his last eight games and continues to put up the huge numbers that Fantasy owners expect. Continue to start him in all formats, of course.

Sherrill saves 21st
Updated Jun 6

Sherrill, George RP BAL
News: When are the saves going to stop for George Sherrill? Many have predicted that as the Orioles begin to falter Sherrill's saves will dwindle. Well, the O's won again Friday against Toronto and Sherrill picked up his 21st save in 23 chances. He pitched a scoreless ninth, walking one and striking out two.
Analysis: It's starting to look like Sherrill could remain a dominant Fantasy closer throughout the season as the Orioles continue to pick up victories. Baltimore's hitting is still brutal so when they win, it is usually close. The possibility that the O's tank is always there, so if you can get good value for Sherrill, take it. Otherwise, continue to start him in all Fantasy formats.

Colon not at his best vs. Mariners
Updated Jun 6

Colon, Bartolo SP BOS
News: Bartolo Colon lost for the first time in his Red Sox career Friday against the Mariners. He allowed three earned runs -- six total -- and eight hits over five innings, walking one and striking out two. He has a 5.73 ERA in his last two starts after posting a 2.25 ERA in his first two.
Analysis: Colon has his velocity and is pitching for one of the best teams in baseball, so you have to consider him a viable Fantasy option despite this little bump in the road. If he was getting absolutely bombed, we might worry, but as it is, don't hesitate to fill out your Fantasy staff with him for his next start Thursday against the Orioles.

Wood has five saves since Saturday
Updated Jun 6

Wood, Kerry RP CHC
News: Cubs RP Kerry Wood managed to pitch around trouble Thursday and earn his 17th save after pitching a scoreless ninth inning during a 5-4 win against the Dodgers. Wood faced seven hitters in the ninth and loaded the bases for Matt Kemp with two outs. But he struck out Kemp for his fifth save since Saturday. Wood loaded the bases on a double, hit batter and walk.
Analysis: Wood has not allowed a run in eight straight outings despite yielding five hits and three walks in that span. He is finally getting hold of how to work out of ninth-inning jams and is quickly becoming a reliable closer. Wood remains a high-end Fantasy RP.
