The Hot The Cold And The Injuried

NL Players

Russell Martin - C, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 11, 1:21 a.m.Russell Martin went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a stolen base as the Dodgers won in San Diego 7-2 on Tuesday. Fantasy Source spin: Matt Kemp also had three RBI in an embarrassing game for the San Diego outfield. Martin isn't showing the same kind of power he did last year, but that hardly makes him any different than a number of guys who entered the season as top fantasy catchers. At least Martin is hitting .321. All three of his RBI tonight came with two outs. He had just six RBI in those situations going into the night.
Albert Pujols - 1B, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 11, 12:44 a.m.Albert Pujols will leave Cincinnati and return to St. Louis for tests after aggravating his left calf in Tuesday's game. Fantasy Source spin: "Based on what I saw-and I'm not a doctor-it was pretty bad," GM John Mozeliak said. Pujols has played through leg problems plenty of times before, but if he can't do it now, the Cardinals figure to call up Chris Duncan to play first base.
Todd Helton - 1B, Colorado Rockies
Jun. 11, 12:28 a.m.Todd Helton went 3-for-4 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday as the Rockies topped the Giants 10-5. Fantasy Source spin: The homer gave him just his third multi-RBI game of the season. Compare that to 2000, when he had 44 of them. Helton's on-base skills remain mostly intact, but it looks like he's on his way to his worst season as a major leaguer.
Jeff Baker - 2B, Colorado Rockies
Jun. 11, 12:23 a.m.Jeff Baker started Tuesday despite a bruised knee and went 2-for-3 before coming out for defense. Fantasy Source spin: Baker was limited to a pinch-hitting appearance Sunday.
Chris Snyder - C, Arizona Diamondbacks
Jun. 10, 11:54 p.m.Chris Snyder's put the Diamondbacks ahead of the Mets with a an eighth-inning homer as Arizona rallied from a 5-1 deficit to earn a 9-5 victory on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: The Mets jumped on Micah Owings for five runs in the first two innings, but the Diamondbacks forced John Maine to throw 101 pitches over five innings and then clobbered the Mets bullpen for six runs over the last four frames. Snyder's homer gave the D-backs a one-run lead in the eighth, and they added three more runs on a pair of homers in the ninth.
Geovany Soto - C, Chicago Cubs
Jun. 10, 11:43 p.m.Geovany Soto went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in a win over the Braves on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Soto's three-run homer in the eighth inning pushed the Cubs' lead from two to five and effectively ended any thoughts of an Atlanta comeback. The Cubs backstop entered game with just two hits and one RBI in 22 June at-bats.
Lastings Milledge - OF, Washington Nationals
Jun. 10, 11:34 p.m.Lastings Milledge's two-run homer in the top of the ninth lifted the Nationals to a 7-6 victory over the Pirates in a wild game on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: The Nats rallied from a 4-1 deficit to take a one-run lead in the eighth inning, but the Pirates scored a pair of runs in the bottom half the of eighth to retake the lead. Milledge's two-out homer in the ninth, his fifth of the year, put the Nationals back on top, and Jon Rauch slammed the door on the Pirates to seal the victory.
Ronnie Belliard - 2B, Washington Nationals
Jun. 10, 11:33 p.m.Ronnie Belliard homered twice on Tuesday night, helping lead the Nationals to a comeback victory over the Pirates. Fantasy Source spin: Belliard scored the Nats' first run on a solo homer in the fifth, then tied the game in the seventh when he became the third hitter in four at-bats to rip a solo homer off Paul Maholm.
Jorge Cantu - 3B, Florida Marlins
Jun. 10, 11:14 p.m.Jorge Cantu went 2-for-4 with a double and a homer in the Marlins' 5-4 win over the Phillies on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Cantu is batting .436 with four homers and nine RBI during his current eight-game hitting streak. He seems to have carried forward the success he experienced during the final two months with the Reds last year, and he's on pace to approach his previous career high for home runs (28, set in Tampa Bay in 2005).
Lance Berkman - 1B, Houston Astros
Jun. 10, 10:53 p.m.Lance Berkman went 3-for-4 with a triple, a homer and five RBI to carry the Astros offense to a 6-1 victory over the Brewers on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: With two outs in the first inning, Berkman belted a two-run homer off Seth McClung. He added a bases-loaded triple in the seventh to break open a 3-1 game. Berkman leads all of baseball with a ridiculous .745 slugging percentage.
Ryan Ludwick - OF, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 10:43 p.m.Ryan Ludwick went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs as the Cardinals beat the Reds 7-2 on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Ludwick put the Cards on the board with an RBI double in the third, and he was driven in by an Albert Pujols' homer in the next at-bat. Ludwick delivered another RBI double in the fourth, putting the Cardinals up 5-0. He ripped a solo homer in the sixth and added an RBI single in the ninth. His solid effort helped rookie Mitchell Boggs earn a win in his first major league start.
Andy LaRoche - 3B, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 10, 10:22 p.m.Dodgers recalled infielder Andy LaRoche from Triple-A Las Vegas. Fantasy Source spin: LaRoche wasn't included in Tuesday's lineup, but manager Joe Torre said he'd play either first or third on Wednesday. He should always be in the lineup at one of the two positions against lefties. He probably won't see much time versus righties unless Blake DeWitt slumps.
Albert Pujols - 1B, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 10:20 p.m.Albert Pujols will be reevaluated Wednesday after being diagnosed with a strained left calf. Fantasy Source spin: That's a lot more realistic than a cramp, but it still doesn't tell us much, considering that the calf has been bothering Pujols for at least a week and likely longer. The Cards may need to bring back Chris Duncan to play first. If they don't do that, then they'll go with either Joe Mather or Troy Glaus there on Wednesday.
Albert Pujols - 1B, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 9:42 p.m.Albert Pujols left Tuesday's game in the seventh inning with a left calf cramp. Fantasy Source spin: At least that's what it's being called. Pujols' calf has been bothering him for some time now, and he had to be helped off the field after apparently aggravating it tonight. Joe Mather replaced him at first base. The Cards might want to bring Chris Duncan back if Pujols needs to miss a few days.
Rafael Furcal - SS, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 10, 9:06 p.m.After being examined over the weekend, Rafael Furcal (back) learned that he won't be ready to play in actual games for at least another two weeks. Fantasy Source spin: The Dodgers were aiming to get Furcal back on June 17, but now it looks like he'll miss the rest of the month. Nomar Garciaparra should beat him back and get a look at shortstop. In the meantime, Angel Berroa will start most of the time over Luis Maza.Source: Los Angeles Daily News
Nomar Garciaparra - 3B, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 10, 9:05 p.m.Nomar Garciaparra, who is eligible to come off the 60-day DL on June 25, is expected to begin a rehab assignment later this week. Fantasy Source spin: Nomar will play shortstop on the rehab assignment and apparently will return from his calf injury as the Dodgers' primary shortstop, though he'd only be used there until Rafael Furcal comes back.Source: Los Angeles Daily News
Josh Willingham - OF, Florida Marlins
Jun. 10, 8:03 p.m.Josh Willingham, who has missed six weeks with a sore back, is scheduled to play in an extended spring game on Wednesday. Fantasy Source spin: "I ran the bases, and the next step is a game [Wednesday] in Jupiter," Willingham said. He's set to officially begin a rehab assignment on Friday, and he could return to Florida's lineup by the middle of next week.Source: Marlins.mlb.com
Troy Tulowitzki - SS, Colorado Rockies
Jun. 10, 8:00 p.m.Troy Tulowitzki is on his way to Single-A Modesto to begin his rehab from a torn tendon in his left quadriceps, Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said Tuesday. Fantasy Source spin: It sounds as though Tulo could be back in 10-14 days if all goes according to plan. As much as he was struggling before getting hurt, the Rockies will want him to produce in the minors before activating him.Source: Rockies.mlb.com
Bill Hall - 3B, Milwaukee Brewers
Jun. 10, 7:28 p.m.Bill Hall is getting the start at second base for Tuesday's game against the Astros. Fantasy Source spin: Hall has been terrible against right-handers this year, and judging from his defense at third base, he'll be a huge downgrade with the glove from Craig Counsell. The Brewers must feel they don't have much to lose by giving him a try at second base, but he could prove to be the worst of their options.
Rick Ankiel - OF, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 6:28 p.m.Rick Ankiel is starting in center field and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Reds. Fantasy Source spin: Ankiel, back from an infected leg, resumes hitting immediately behind Albert Pujols even though he hasn't driven in a run in nine games since May 24.
Ryan Church - OF, New York Mets
Jun. 10, 6:05 p.m.Mets placed outfielder Ryan Church on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6, with post-concussion syndrome. Fantasy Source spin: There's no way of telling when Church might be ready to return. The Mets will try to get by with Endy Chavez and Fernando Tatis in right field for now. Angel Pagan could beat Church back and get the starting job, but the Mets need to be looking for outside help.
Moises Alou - OF, New York Mets
Jun. 10, 6:03 p.m.Mets activated outfielder Moises Alou (calf) from the 15-day disabled list. Fantasy Source spin: Alou will get all of the playing time in left field that his body can handle.
Marlon Anderson - OF, New York Mets
Jun. 10, 6:02 p.m.Mets activated infielder-outfielder Marlon Anderson from the 15-day disabled list. Fantasy Source spin: Anderson wasn't hitting at all before going on the DL and he's not fully recovered from his hamstring injury, so it seems unlikely that he'll see much outfield time. He will be one of the team's top pinch-hitters.
Raul Casanova - C, New York Mets
Jun. 10, 6:01 p.m.Mets designated catcher Raul Casanova for assignment. Fantasy Source spin: Casanova went 2-for-9 during his latest stint with the Mets. He's not a bad stopgap catcher, but next time the team wants a pinch-hitter, it should turn to one of the better options in Triple-A.
Matt Holliday - OF, Colorado Rockies
Jun. 10, 5:59 p.m.Rockies activated outfielder Matt Holliday from the 15-day disabled list. Fantasy Source spin: Holliday was technically out 16 days with his hamstring injury, but that's only because the Rockies were off yesterday. If he hadn't been placed on the disabled list, he would have been back in the lineup several days ago.
Seth Smith - OF, Colorado Rockies
Jun. 10, 5:57 p.m.Rockies optioned outfielder Seth Smith to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Fantasy Source spin: Smith hit .262/.326/.381 in 42 at-bats while helping to fill in for Matt Hollday. That's not so bad, but all three of his RBI came on one swing of the bat back on May 25.
Jolbert Cabrera - 3B, Cincinnati Reds
Jun. 10, 3:40 p.m.Reds purchased the contract of infielder Jolbert Cabrera from Triple-A Louisville. Fantasy Source spin: Cabrera was hitting .288 with four homers and thirty RBI in the minors, and he'll provide bench depth in the infield for Cincinnati.
Jerry Hairston Jr. - SS, Cincinnati Reds
Jun. 10, 3:36 p.m.Reds placed INF Jerry Hairston on the 15-day disabled list with a broken left thumb. Fantasy Source spin: Hairston injured his thumb sliding into second base on a steal in Monday's game, and is expected to miss two to four weeks. Paul Janish will likely take over shortstop duties until Jeff Keppinger returns.
Jeff Keppinger - SS, Cincinnati Reds
Jun. 10, 10:36 a.m.Jeff Keppinger (knee) was scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday at Single-A, but the game was rained out. Fantasy Source spin: The Cincinnati Enquirer speculates that Keppinger could come off the disabled list as soon as Friday, and with Jerry Hairston Jr. now sidelined by a fractured finger the Reds could definitely use him back at shortstop.Source: Cincinnati Enquirer
Rick Ankiel - OF, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 10:01 a.m.Rick Ankiel (knee) has been cleared to return to the lineup Tuesday. Fantasy Source spin: Ankiel has missed seven straight starts with an infected knee.Source: St Louis Post-Dispatch
Chad Tracy - 1B, Arizona Diamondbacks
Jun. 10, 9:08 a.m.Manager Bob Melvin said Monday that Chad Tracy isn't ready to play the outfield yet following knee surgery. Fantasy Source spin: The Diamondbacks could use Tracy in left field given the absence of Eric Byrnes and their lack of production there. "But depending on how we move forward offensively, it certainly could be a consideration down the road," Melvin said.Source: Arizona Republic
Andy LaRoche - 3B, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 10, 8:54 a.m.The Los Angeles Times reports that Andy LaRoche will be called up from Triple-A prior to Tuesday night's game. Fantasy Source spin: He'll replace Chin-Lung Hu on the roster after hitting .267 with five homers in 37 games at Triple-A. LaRoche has been playing some second base in the minors to increase his defensive versatility, but figures to serve as the backup at both corner infield spots for now.Source: Los Angeles Times
Chin-lung Hu - SS, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 10, 8:51 a.m.Dodgers optioned shortstop Chin-Lung Hu to Triple-A Las Vegas. Fantasy Source spin: No corresponding roster move has been made yet, but the Dodgers are expected to recall Andy LaRoche from Triple-A prior to Tuesday's game. With Hu now out of the picture, Angel Berroa will be the Dodgers' starting shortstop until Rafael Furcal returns.
Ronnie Belliard - 2B, Washington Nationals
Jun. 10, 3:19 a.m.Nationals activated infielder Ronnie Belliard from the 15-day disabled list. Fantasy Source spin: Belliard should be pretty close to an everyday player between second and third, at least until Ryan Zimmerman gets back. With the way Felipe Lopez has played lately, the starting job at second should be Belliard's to lose.Pitchers
Clayton Kershaw - SP, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jun. 11, 1:16 a.m.Clayton Kershaw yielded two runs in 5 1/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Padres. Fantasy Source spin: Kershaw was outpitched by Greg Maddux, but the Dodgers roughed up the Padres bullpen to let the youngster off the hook. Kershaw ended up allowing six hits, walking four and striking out five. He has a 4.50 ERA and a 19/13 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings to date.Next start: 6/10: @SD
Tom Glavine - SP, Atlanta Braves
Jun. 11, 12:41 a.m.Tom Glavine will go back on the disabled list with a strained elbow that he said has been bothering him for a month. Fantasy Source spin: Glavine will undergo an MRI. The Braves haven't commented on the choice to replace him in the rotation, but it's time for Charlie Morton to get a look. NL-only leaguers may want to stash the 24-year-old right-hander away.Next start: 6/10: @CHC
Pat Misch - SP, San Francisco Giants
Jun. 11, 12:25 a.m.Pat Misch dropped to 0-3 after allowing four runs in four innings Tuesday against the Rockies. Fantasy Source spin: The Giants might have hurt themselves tonight by not going back to Kevin Correia after he was sharp in his first two rehab starts. Correia made a third minor league start on Monday and was very good again. Correia will replace Misch this weekend.Next start: 6/10: @COL
Ted Lilly - SP, Chicago Cubs
Jun. 10, 11:43 p.m.Ted Lilly settled in after surrendering three first inning runs to pick up a win in Chicago's 10-5 victory over the Braves on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Greg Norton hit a three-run homer off Lilly in the first inning to give the Braves an early lead, but the Cubs responded with 10 runs, six of them coming against the Braves bullpen after Tom Glavine left with a strained elbow. Lilly gave up a leadoff triple in the second, but went on to retire 16 of the next 17 batters he faced. He struck out eight and walked three in the game.Next start: 6/10: ATL
Ricky Nolasco - SP, Florida Marlins
Jun. 10, 11:15 p.m.Ricky Nolasco yielded three runs -- none of them earned -- over six innings and earned his sixth victory in Florida's 5-4 win over the Phillies on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Home runs by Hanley Ramirez and Jorge Cantu in the first inning gave Nolasco a three-run lead to work with, and he took care of business. The young righty didn't allow a run through the first four innings, but he was victimized by two-out errors in the fifth and sixth.Next start: 6/10: PHI
Roy Oswalt - SP, Houston Astros
Jun. 10, 10:54 p.m.Roy Oswalt fanned 10 over seven innings of one-run ball as the Astros rolled over the Brewers 6-1 on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Oswalt, who had not earned a win since May 12, needed an outing like tonight's. He allowed only five hits and did not issue a walk while racking up 10 strikeouts, a season high. Lance Berkman drove in five of Houston's six runs in the victory.Next start: 6/10: MIL
Mitchell Boggs - RP, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 10:42 p.m.Making his first big-league start on Tuesday night, Mitchell Boggs held the Reds to two runs over five innings and picked up a win. Fantasy Source spin: Boggs issued three walks and didn't strike anyone out, and Tony La Russa only let him throw 72 pitches in his first outing as a member of the Cards' rotation. He'll continue to post low strikeout totals, but he might be a decent short-term option in NL-only leagues.
Tom Glavine - SP, Atlanta Braves
Jun. 10, 10:13 p.m.Tom Glavine left Tuesday's game after three innings with a strained left elbow. Fantasy Source spin: Glavine had never gone on the disabled list prior to this season, but he could land there for a second time now. If that's the case, the Braves could call up Charlie Morton and give him his first look in the rotation.Next start: 6/10: @CHC
John Smoltz - SP, Atlanta Braves
Jun. 10, 9:09 p.m.The Braves said they won't know about John Smoltz's future as a pitcher for months following the right-hander's shoulder surgery on Tuesday. Fantasy Source spin: Clearly, the damage to the shoulder wasn't quite what was expected. "The prognosis on John's shoulder is unclear based on the findings of today's surgery," said GM Frank Wren. "We will know more as John starts to progress through his rehab." The Braves knew going in that Smoltz would not return this season.
Jake Peavy - SP, San Diego Padres
Jun. 10, 8:44 p.m.The Padres confirmed Tuesday that Jake Peavy (elbow) will come off the disabled list and start Thursday against the Dodgers. Fantasy Source spin: "Like I said the other day, I'm chomping at the bit," he said. "I'm as ready as I will ever be. I feel good and this is the right time to do it." With Peavy back, the Padres designated Wilfredo Ledezma for assignment today.
Sergio Mitre - SP, Florida Marlins
Jun. 10, 8:06 p.m.Sergio Mitre, out since the beginning of the season with a strained right forearm, threw 30 pitches off the mound on Tuesday. Fantasy Source spin: Mitre will need a lengthy rehab assignment, so don't expect to see him back in the majors before the All-Star break. With Josh Johnson also maybe on the way back, the Marlins could have a wealth of rotation options come Aug. 1.Source: Marlins.mlb.com
Wilfredo Ledezma - RP, San Diego Padres
Jun. 10, 7:35 p.m.Padres designated LHP Wilfredo Ledezma for assignment. Fantasy Source spin: This means Cha-Seung Baek will stay in the rotation following Jake Peavy's return, probably on Thursday. Ledezma gets booted even though he had a 3.15 ERA in 20 innings as a reliever earlier this season. He wasn't very good in five starts, going 0-2 with a 5.66 ERA, but it's a surprise the Padres didn't just put him back in middle relief.
Joe Thatcher - RP, San Diego Padres
Jun. 10, 7:33 p.m.Padres recalled LHP Joe Thatcher from Triple-A Portland. Fantasy Source spin: Thatcher will get another chance after throwing seven scoreless innings in the minors. He has a 7.45 ERA in 19 1/3 innings for San Diego.
Danny Herrera - RP, Cincinnati Reds
Jun. 10, 3:47 p.m.Reds recalled LHP Danny Herrera from Triple-A Louisville. Fantasy Source spin: Herrera was with the squad last week, making one appearance and throwing a scoreless inning that included two strikeouts. He's taking Gary Majewski's spot on the roster.
Gary Majewski - RP, Cincinnati Reds
Jun. 10, 3:45 p.m.Reds placed RHP Gary Majewski on the bereavement list. Fantasy Source spin: What sent Majewski to the list hasn't been reported, but he'll likely be out a few days at least. He'd allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings since getting called up last week.
Anibal Sanchez - SP, Florida Marlins
Jun. 10, 11:20 a.m.Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Monday that Anibal Sanchez (shoulder) "is close to pitching in a game." Fantasy Source spin: He'll likely get some work in at extended spring training before heading out on a minor league rehab assignment. Don't count on him being back in Florida before the second half.Source: Miami Herald
Josh Johnson - SP, Florida Marlins
Jun. 10, 11:18 a.m.The Miami Herald reports that Josh Johnson is ahead of schedule in his recovery from Tommy John surgery and could join the Marlins' rotation around the All-Star break. Fantasy Source spin: Johnson was initially expected back no earlier than August and seemed to have a good shot at missing the entire season, so a July return would be surprising. He pitched five innings in an extended spring training game Monday, allowing one run on five hits.Source: Miami Herald
Adam Wainwright - SP, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 11:14 a.m.Cardinals placed RHP Adam Wainwright on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 8, with a sprained right middle finger. Fantasy Source spin: Joel Pineiro is expected to replace Wainwright in the rotation, returning from the disabled list without a minor league rehab assignment. General manager John Mozeliak indicated Monday that the Cardinals don't expect Wainwright to be sidelined for a significant chunk of time.Next start: 6/12: @CIN
Felipe Paulino - SP, Houston Astros
Jun. 10, 10:16 a.m.The Houston Chronicle reports that Felipe Paulino (arm) "had another setback and is only playing light catch." Fantasy Source spin: Paulino is trying to make it back from a pinched nerve in his upper arm and has yet to pitch this season. Returning before the All-Star break is now highly unlikely.Source: Houston Chronicle
Todd Wellemeyer - SP, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 10:03 a.m.After being scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday because of elbow soreness, Todd Wellemeyer is expected to rejoin the rotation this weekend. Fantasy Source spin: He's set to throw a bullpen session Tuesday after saying Monday that the injury "is nothing serious."Source: St Louis Post-DispatchNext start: 6/15: PHI
Noah Lowry - SP, San Francisco Giants
Jun. 10, 9:05 a.m.Noah Lowry (forearm) said Monday that he's still hoping to pitch this season. Fantasy Source spin: "It's all speculation," Lowry said. "When we get down to an actual time frame and I'm still not throwing at that time, we'll start talking about it then. At this point, I feel it's a little premature to be talking like that. The symptoms are getting smaller and smaller, and less severe. We're close. The last couple of days have been good and I'll take that for what it is."Source: San Francisco Chronicle
Kevin Correia - SP, San Francisco Giants
Jun. 10, 4:10 a.m.Kevin Correia allowed one run in seven innings Monday for Triple-A Fresno in his third and final rehab start. Fantasy Source spin: He struck out eight. Correia is expected to replace Pat Misch in the rotation this weekend after missing a month and a half with a strained oblique.
Jason Isringhausen - RP, St. Louis Cardinals
Jun. 10, 3:40 a.m.Jason Isringhausen (hand) threw two scoreless innings Monday in his first rehab appearance with Single-A Palm Beach. Fantasy Source spin: Izzy never ceased being healthy enough to pitch, but the Cardinals felt that giving him an extended rest was the right move. He'll probably rejoin the St. Louis bullpen later this month, but he's not going to handed the closer's role. He'll have to earn it.
Tyler Clippard - SP, Washington Nationals
Jun. 10, 3:18 a.m.Nationals optioned RHP Tyler Clippard to Triple-A Columbus. Fantasy Source spin: Clippard failed to excel against a poor offense in his spot start on Monday, so he didn't help his chances of being the choice the next time the Nats need a starter.Next start: 6/14: @SEA

AL Players

Jose Guillen - OF, Kansas City Royals
Jun. 11, 12:07 a.m.Jose Guillen went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in a losing effort against the Rangers on Tuesday night. Fantasy Source spin: Guillen has been a bright spot for this struggling Royals offense. After a terrible first month of the season, he heated up with an .823 OPS in May and is now hitting .436/.450/.897 in nine June games.
Manny Ramirez - OF, Boston Red Sox
Jun. 10, 9:53 p.m.J.D. Drew and Manny Ramirez hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning off Daniel Cabrera on Tuesday. Fantasy Source spin: Ramirez had a bid for another homer barely go foul in the third. He did hit one in his next at-bat, giving him six in his last nine games and 15 for the season.
Evan Longoria - 3B, Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Jun. 10, 1:11 a.m.Evan Longoria, Willy Aybar and Dioner Navarro hit consecutive homers as the Rays crushed the Angels 13-4 on Monday. Fantasy Source spin: All were solo shots in the second inning off Joe Saunders. Longoria later added an RBI double and a second homer. He scored four runs for the first time in his career. The 22-year-old rookie still isn't hitting for average, but with 10 homers and 32 RBI in 54 games, he's been plenty productive.
Dioner Navarro - C, Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Jun. 10, 1:06 a.m.Dioner Navarro went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBI against the Angels on Monday. Fantasy Source spin: Navarro went 2-for-23 against the White Sox and Red Sox to drop his average from .374 to .326, but with eight hits in his last three games, he's back up to .349. His three runs scored and four RBI tonight both matched his career-high totals. He's making a case to be moved up in the lineup.
Vladimir Guerrero - OF, Los Angeles Angels
Jun. 10, 1:03 a.m.Vladimir Guerrero and Gary Matthews Jr. both had four-hit games Monday against the Rays. Fantasy Source spin: And the Angels only lost by nine runs. The four-hit game was Guerrero's first of the season. He also homered on Sunday, so his knee must be feeling a lot better.Pitchers
Scott Baker - SP, Minnesota Twins
Jun. 10, 10:01 p.m.Scott Baker put a stop to an ugly stretch for the Twins' rotation on Tuesday night by holding the Indians to one run over seven innings, but he still took a tough loss in the Tribe's 1-0 victory. Fantasy Source spin: Baker continues to be the strongest and most consistent member of a shaky rotation. He was hardly dominant tonight, striking out only one batter and surrendering eight hits, but he pitched well overall and gave the Twins a great chance to end their losing streak. Unfortunately, C.C. Sabathia had other plans.Next start: 6/10: @CLE
