Rowand doing fine, singles home run Giants OF Aaron Rowand, who was drilled by a pitch on his left hand Wednesday, didn't miss Friday's game against the Padres. He went 1-for-5 with an RBI single and two strikeouts. Rowand was red hot going into Friday's game, batting .467 (7-for-15) with two home runs over his last four. Consider him day to day. When healthy, his .337 batting average and seven home runs make him no less than a No. 3 Fantasy OF. * Ellsbury swipes three bases Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits and half of Boston's club-record six stolen bases at Baltimore Friday. Ellsbury ended a 1-for-16 slump with a leadoff double, took third on a bunt and scored on a single by David Ortiz. Ellsbury is one stolen base behind major league leaders Michael Bourn and Ichiro Suzuki, who have 24 each. And Ellsbury has a higher OBP and slugging percentage than both of them. Start him in all leagues. * K. Wood picks up 13th save Kerry Wood pitched the ninth for his 13th save in 17 chancesFriday against the Rockies. Wood has now worked three consecutive saves after blowing Saturday's game against the Pirates. He remains a high-end Fantasy RP. * Owings gets blown out by Nationals Diamondbacks SP Micah Owings was going well until the sixth inning Friday against the Nationals, having allowed only twoearned runs. He ended up surrendering six on eight hits in 62/3 innings. He struck out six, hit two and walked none, falling to 6-3. "I just kept fighting," Owings said. "I didn't feel like I had my best stuff tonight, and unfortunately you're going to have those nights." When you saw Owings would face the Nationals this week, you probably thought he had a win in the bag. Not the case, as it rarely is in baseball. Owings' ERA jumped back over 4.00 after he had posted a 2.77 mark over his last four starts. He remains a decent No. 3 or 4 Fantasy SP in all leagues, though. His next start is scheduled for Wednesday at Milwaukee. * Sherrill perfect in extra innings Orioles closer George Sherrill, who hasn't recorded a save since May 17, still didn't record one Friday against the RedSox. He did pitch a perfect inning of relief in an extra-inning game, though, striking out one. A year ago, Baltimore relievers botched 25 of 55 save opportunities. Sherrill thus far has blown only two, which is one big reason why the Orioles are near .500 following a run of 10 straight losing seasons. He's a solid closer in all formats, though his save rate has already begun to slow down after he quickly jumped to 17. * C. Lee not his best, but wins again Indians SP Cliff Lee (8-1) moved into a tie for the AL lead in victories Friday at Kansas City despite an off night. He allowed four runs and 10 hits in six innings, walking one and striking out three. His ERA crept up from 1.50 to 1.88, still good enough to lead the league. Lee has allowed 10 hits in two of his last three starts and has begun to slow down a bit since his torrid start, allowing a 5.40 ERA and 1.80 WHIP over his last three. He obviously couldn't sustain his pace from earlier in the season, but he hasn't gone bad enough to lose his status as a must-start in Fantasy. His next start is scheduled for Wednesday at Texas.
